Finally, my brother and his family were able to make the long haul from San Antonio to see Savannah for the first time and celebrate Christmas. Luckily, they were able to stay for a week which gave us all some time to catch up and spend time with that Baby Girl. They have safely made at it home now and are enjoying Christmas Day at their house.

Alabama BS
Hello everyone......sorry for the lay off. Things have been pretty busy around here with Miss Savannah. She is growing like a weed, and has already outgrown some of her first sleepers. Lynn is doing great also. She came off of her blood pressure medicine and is doing great!
Switching gears for moment......I got back to town this afternoon and walked in one of my accounts in Tuscaloosa, only to see a big headline on the newspaper: "Shula Fired." By the time I got home, 3 names had been mentioned on the radio as possible replacements......Steve Spurrier, Greg Schiano, and Nick Saban.
After swerving back into the lane due to my uncontrollable laughter, it was a vivid reminder of one of the reasons myself and my brother despise the joke of a program that is Alabama Football. He and I are both LSU fans. But we also grew up in Tuscaloosa, and pull for the Tide. I honestly want to see them do well. By all means, the Alabama fans deserve something good after the last five years of fiascos.
The problem is that for some odd reason, the Alabama athletic department and the media surrounding it believe that the head coaching job at Alabama is God's gift to all head coaches in existence. If anything, it is exactly the opposite. First of all, if you don't win immediately, you will be fired. Now, this is true for a lot of programs, but typically there is some development time, especially after NCAA sanctions. BUT USUALLY....you would bring someone in who has head coaching experience. Bama didn't follow this one. I think I'll let Matt finish this....... www.ozintx.blogspot.com
As for the the possible replacements.......Spurrier: loves South Carolina, golf, and the freedom he has there. Besides, he already got the jewel from Tuscaloosa, Chris Smelley.
Schiano....Rutgers man; if he goes anywhere, it would be Miami.
And Saban......this one was probably the funniest. He has already denied being interested at a press conference, yet he is on every local news station as a possible replacement. Again, I refer to Matt...... www.ozintx.blogspot.com
Best shot: probably Jim Grobe of Wake Forest.
The point is that these names get brought up like they would just jump ship just to have the opportunity to coach at Alabama. This is the arrogance that is such a turnoff. As much as I want to see Alabama do well, they need to start at the top.....i.e. MAL Moore, and all of "Bear's Boys". They got rid of Shula, but after all of these years, they still have a major MALfunction.

Uncle Jaynes
On Sunday, Uncle Jaynes of the Oz and Jaynes Acoustic Band made a trip to Tuscaloosa to see Miss Savannah for the first time. He initially would not agree to hold her saying that she was too small; but then eventually gave in, as long as she was safe on the pillow.
Check out a few more pics on the Oz and Jaynes Blog: www.ozandjaynes.blogspot.com

Savannah and Her Granmomma
This is a great picture taken by Lynn of Savannah and my mother. Mother has been with us since we came home from the hospital, and has been a tremendous help while Lynn is still struggling with blood pressure issues.
By the way, Lynn is trying out her third blood pressure medicine and it is working much better.
We allowed mother (Mary Ann) to go home to Fairhope to see Richard this past weekend. She is back for a few days to help out while Lynn gets better. Thank You!
I also need to thank Momma Mason for staying a few days last week. She was also a tremendous help.

Mommy and Baby Girl, Home at Last
What a ride! After Lynn being put on bedrest for almost 9 weeks, Savannah Malyn Osborn was born on October 18th, 2006 at 5:10 p.m. She weighed 4 pounds, 14 ounces and was 17 1/2 inches long. Lynn was in labor for around 15 hours before we decided with Dr. Stone that it was time to deliver our little girl by c-section.
Savannah was taken to NICU immediately after delivery to be observed for 4 hours, which is the standard for preemies. She had some rapid breathing problems, as well as a below normal body temperature and the head nurse told us early that we should not be alarmed if Savannah was kept in NICU.
However, about 10:00 p.m., we were informed that Savannah was doing well and that she would be coming to our room to join us! The rapid breathing had subsided, but there was still an issue with her body temperature, and we were told that if it dropped, she would have to return to intensive care.
Savannah had to be put in a warmer a couple of times, but never had to return to the NICU. She stayed with us throughout the week, while Lynn recovered from a rough pregnancy and a few nights of no sleep after Savannah was brought into the world. After arriving at the hospital on Tuesday, we were finally informed on Saturday that we would be able to bring her home on Sunday.
Currently, Mommy and Baby Girl are doing much better. Savannah has her first appointment with her pediatrician on Tuesday, October 24; and Lynn goes for a follow up visit to her Doctor on the same day. We feed Savannah every three hours without fail to try to get her weight up. We also keep her in about 4-5 layers of clothing to keep her temperature normal, as well as keeping the house extremely warm for her (I sweat when I sit on the couch now, but I don't mind at all.) She is the most precious thing I have ever seen.
There are some pictures below that were taken at the hospital by Momma Mason, and Ron Mason. I have some other great pics of Savannah that I will post by Wednesday. Thank you to our family and friends that have done so much for us over the past 10 weeks. I am off to try to catch a nap before we feed that sweet girl again............

Update on the Bedrest Girl
So, Lynn has not had the best week. She has had another bout with nausea, which is another symptom of preeclampsia, and the blood pressure has gotten worse. It is still under control, but at this point, she cannot even sit up to work on the computer. It is very touchy, and sky-rockets when she gets up to use the bathroom......example: laying down 110/77; from there, just getting up to go to the bathroom 166/99. For those of you that don't know a whole lot about blood pressure, over 90 for the low number is not good; 100 for the low number is really not good.
BOTTOM LINE: Our goal was to try to make it to sometime between October 24th and the 31st. We had to make an unscheduled trip to the doctors office yesterday (Friday) because of the spike in the blood pressure. Long story short: we are scheduled to go back for another check up on Monday morning, and if everything is ok, we will have a baby on Wednesday, October 18th. The baby's size is good, and the outlook is good for mommy and baby. There is a possibility that we may not get to come home on Monday, so we are going to the hospital prepared to stay. Honestly, we were a little suprised that he let us come home last night. In any event, we will let everyone know if anything changes.
Thank you all for your help and support through Lynn's tough time. Check for updates soon! We are getting ready for the stork!

Baby Update!!!
Wednesday, Lynn and I went back for her scheduled doctor visit in Birmingham, and it was our best visit in a long time!!
Her blood pressure was low, and everything was very good! We had another ultrasound...here is a picture of our little sweetie. She has been growing fast.....on Wednesday she weighed 4 lbs, 13 ozs. That's up a good bit since our last visit. Must be all those veggies mommy has been eating!
So here is the latest: we go back for a scheduled appointment on October 18 if all stays the same. On that day, Lynn will have a full exam and if everything goes as planned, we will pick a birthdate for our baby. We are looking at somewhere between October 24th (which just happens to be my birthday) and the 31st (BOO!). This will be right around the 37 week mark. For anyone that does not know, we are having baby girl early due to a high blood pressure problem Lynn is having. She has just finished her 7th week of bedrest, and she is loving it! We will let everyone know the date as soon as we find out.
Again, thank you to everyone that has helped us through this stressful time. You will never know how much I appreciate it.
